Kearny High’s got a New Coffee Supply!
New Starbucks is opening up across the street from Kearny High School
Coffee is definitely a close friend to today’s teens, especially for the students at Kearny High School. A new Starbucks will soon be opening across the street from our school, and rumor has it that the all prosperous coffee monopoly will be getting lots of business…and putting a few not so popular local establishments out of business.
In the eyes of many, Starbucks has perfected its menu for their loyal customers, including a variety of caffeinated beverages both hot and cold. This includes many teachers, who are showing signs of interest with regard to this new asset to our community. “I couldn’t be happier with the new Starbucks location. I’ve only been to K-sandwiches once or twice but it’s hard to compare mom and pops with corporate establishments, and I favor both,” says DMD English teacher Mrs. Barnes.
Old faithful K-sandwiches also has a few yummy coffee drinks to offer, but many residents of the area would argue that their unique food and drink concoctions are not up to par with Starbucks’ caffeinated liquid gold.
On the other end, Starbucks has recently come out with some new tasty breakfast sandwiches. Community doughnut shop Rose Donuts also offers some breakfast snacks, but some would argue that their prices are a bit too high. Jonathan Santoyo, DMD Senior, says, “Rose Doughnuts is not that great. Their prices are too high and their customer service is bad, so Starbucks is where its at.” Add to that the fact that Rose Donuts’ has a “CASH ONLY” policy, and their location being right next to a corporate monster like Starbucks, and you may have a recipe for a business going out of business.
