Be My…?

Do you have a hard time telling that special someone to be yours? Well, now comes the opportunity to confess your love to your crush.
Here are opinionated ways to express that love to your special someone by your fellow peers:
1.       Go up to that special person with some rose pedals’ in your hand; throw them in their face and run away yelling, “I LOVE YOU!”

Do You Know What You’re Saying?

In today’s day and age, where cultural diversity is accepted and even encouraged, you wouldn’t expect to hear such degrading language and remarks relating to race. Just the other day I was stopped speechless when I heard the “N” word repeated several times in ONE sentence.  This group of students were casually using this word in replacement of a greeting AND used while talking about someone else.
I always grew up with the understanding that this was a “bad” word and one that shouldn’t be spoken. Even in school we …

The Hype for Guys

We all know that there are many styles out there, but what are the most recent trends for the dudes?
The style that would look good on any guy are loose skinny jeans. Who says you have to sag to look cool? Sporting any loose skinny jeans fitted to your waist gives you a more sophisticated look, and you don’t have to worry about pulling up your jeans every 2 seconds.

Another “it” look for the guys this fall is the cardigan. Cardigans aren’t just for the girls, guys can …

Club Spotlight – Kearny’s Toms’ Shoes Club

Every time you buy a pair of Toms shoes, Toms will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need, one for one. But why not water or medicine or something else, you may ask? While all those are important, shoes have been shown to be a fundamental resource for protecting children from rough terrain, infection, and soil-based diseases. If you’re wondering what Tom’s stands for, it’s an abbreviation for “Shoes for a Better Tomorrow” run by a founder named Blake. Not Tom.

Shoes have gone beyond being critical …

The Chinese Zodiac

The Chinese zodiac uses 12 animals, each representing one year in a 12 year cycle.  The first year is of the Rat, followed by the Ox as second, then by the Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, and Dog as the eleventh with the Pig as the last.
2010 is the year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac, which would make it the 4708th Chinese year.  In western (or American) culture, its sign would most resemble an Aquarius horoscope.  It started on February 15th earlier this year and …

College Bound

Back on Friday, October 1st, a group of freshmen, juniors, and seniors from DMD were given the opportunity to visit University of California’s San Diego campus through official student oriented tours. The trip, which consisted of tour guides who were current students of the university, allowed students the chance to get answers about college life as well as a taste for what is to come after high school.
As what many of us are working so hard towards is being able to get into a good school, extend our education and …

A few days ago Mr. Oskin sent me an interesting article from the New York Times about a student who decided to give up social networking for 48 hours. I thought the idea of life without social media was interesting so I gave it a try. Over the course of 48 hours I recorded what I was thinking or feeling while living life without social networking.

Day 1
8:30am: So far things aren’t going too bad. Naturally, this morning I reached for my phone to read the latest tweets on my …

Making W.A.V.E.S. Gets Special Recognition For DMD!

Making W.A.V.E.S. is the team of 11th grade juniors at DMD. They work with real clients to help make San Diego a better and “greener” place. W.A.V.E.S stands for We Advocate and Volunteer to Educate San Diego. On Friday, June 4, 2010, the juniors of DMD were honored by the presence of Mayor Jerry Sanders on campus, who was very much impressed by all the work they did this year. He was so impressed, in fact, that he decided to proclaim June 4, 2010, as ‘Kearny High DMD Day’! How …
